Did Dick's Make a Huge Mistake Buying Foot Locker?

    Watch on YouTube

    Summary

The hosts discuss market positioning ahead of Nvidia and Marvell earnings and Jackson Hole, highlighting falling crude prices and subdued volatility. Their stock commentary is positive on Old Dominion, Critical Metals and Navitas Semiconductor, but cautious on Dick’s Sporting Goods amid reported earnings weakness and concerns about its Foot Locker acquisition. The episode also includes sports commentary and a Rebel Con promotion.

    • Nvidia and Marvell earnings and Jackson Hole are identified as upcoming market catalysts.
    • Falling crude prices are framed as easing inflation pressure; increased VIX options activity is described as possible hedging.
    • The hosts praise Old Dominion’s reported earnings beat, double-digit revenue growth and pricing strength.
    • Critical Metals draws attention for its Greenland rare-earth project, reduced reliance on China and unusual options activity.
    • The hosts view Navitas Semiconductor’s proposed roughly $232 million Claros acquisition as strengthening its AI power-delivery opportunity.
    • Dick’s Sporting Goods is criticized for reported earnings misses, weak guidance and Foot Locker’s sales and margin challenges.
    • The hosts favor waiting for evidence of improved execution at Dick’s, citing acquisition financing costs and possible technical support around $101–$102.
    • The closing discussion covers the Cleveland Browns, professional athletes returning to college and a Rebel Con event promotion.

    1. Welcome back to the Rebels Edge. Pete coming to us from somewhere out in California, the left coast as it's known. And I'm down here in Puerto Rico, of course, enjoying the heck out of it.

    2. and looking forward to describing to you the setup into both Marll and Nvidia's earnings that are coming our way this week along with the rest of the Rebels Edge right after this short break.

    3. >> Pete, I sort of feel like those bodybuilders. I'm so sick of just eating pure protein all the time. It's just uh >> Why are you doing it?

    4. >> I mean, I don't know. I'm uh I'm seeing whether or not if I eat more protein because it turns out that uh I really only eat about one meal a day mostly. Um so I'll have, you know, a full pot of

    5. coffee in the morning and then sometimes I get a little hungry around noon or so, but I mainly find I eat out of boredom.

    6. So, I I make a uh either kale or h spinach uh smoothie for myself and then I'm good till dinner. But then people said, "Well, you're not getting enough getting enough protein." So, for the last little bit, I've been having lots of protein and it's kind of tough to

    7. just choke down protein. I mean, pork and chicken and steak and fish and it's just like >> there's worse things.

    8. >> There's worse things. There definitely are.

    9. Well, more on my uh diets on a later show, folks. But, uh, Pete and I are going to entertain you, hopefully educate you on some things you need to know about, and we'll dive right into it with Macro because

    10. >> while you might tune in to some of the shows on uh regular television or cable, they'll give you the first 30 minutes of the show in macro. We'll do it in one minute. So, let's start it up. Pete, I'm going to say stocks uh a little more optimistic today because uh they're

    11. waiting for the earnings report from Nvidia and of course Marll. Uh as well as as we said at the top of yesterday's show, the Jackson Hole event, which kicks off in just a couple days. Um, other than them being at the Million-Dollar Cowboy Bar and things

    12. like that in Jackson Hole, Pete, I don't know what the real reason is for them to head to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, but I know they love to do it and I think it's one of the carrots that they dangle in front of these Fed guys. So, what do you got for what's going on today? Well,

    13. it's um it's interesting and I think you're exactly right when you you identify Nvidia and Marll as huge catalysts in front of us and that's what we're kind of waiting for right now, right? I mean and then there's this argument about you know every day we have this up and down that we're seeing which is well you know softwares are doing this you know that that's one of the things and the other thing is well

    14. what about the chips how are they doing and blah blah blah blah blah and it's you know up and down and up and down like you've said I mean it's it's the heartbeat right and that's what we're seeing pretty consistently that on top of the fact that how about crude oil John the fact in the last five days uh we've seen it go from 8770 to down to 82

    15. and a quarter So, um I think that is a great backdrop of macro that gives us a little bit of a lift um in the markets and we'll see how big of a lift that's going to be. But, uh certainly when we talk about inflation, you and I have identified it day after day after day

    16. for many many months, which is that is inflation crude oil. And whether it's up or down, that's where where people are looking and saying, "All right, well, inflation's going like this or it's going like this." So today it's going like that.

    17. >> Yeah. And in fact, we just broke 82 a little bit ago, Pete. We're in the 81 >> and uh 8190 or something like that.

    18. >> So we'll keep our eye on that.

    19. Allegedly, traffic through the straight of Hormuz is up 400%.

    20. >> So we'll keep our eye on that for sure.

    21. All right. What about the VIX? uh with the markets kind of uh basically in a holding pattern but slightly higher.

    22. What do you think the VIX is doing?

    23. >> Well, the VIX is pretty interesting, John, when you're when you're sitting there looking at it and you say in the last month it's down 18%. 18% in a month. So, that's pretty significant.

    24. And then it's kind of been teasing us for a little while here in this very very tight range. And you could see it right there. I mean, what do we want to call the range? 14 and a half to maybe 15 and a half, maybe just under 16.

    25. That's a really nice tight bands, John.

    26. And you know what? Rightfully so. That's what we're seeing when we looking at the S&P 500. Yes, it's been moving both up and down, more up than down, but the reality is that, you know, that it's it's somewhere. It's not 1% moves daily, but it certainly is um having some nice moves just like we were talking about.

    27. The heartbeat is there and it's had some nice moves, but it's within this tight range. So, I think that the the VIX is at a point right now. And by the way, we're finally starting to see some folks out there buying some unusual option activity out there in the VIX and we are seeing some chunkier paper coming in.

    28. So, is it hedging? Probably. Could it be somebody who's who's expecting maybe some sort of a pretty strong move? Could be. Because the one of the best parts of what we've been talking about uh over the last month and a half or two has

    29. been earnings and the fact that that's the savior for the last six quarters or something like that. Well, uh we're getting towards the tail end of that right now, John.

    30. >> Yeah, we are, Pete. Well, um, as far as prediction markets today, uh, I thought you guys would enjoy this one because, uh, the likelihood that, uh, yep, there's ET, also known as an what?

    31. Estraterrestrial Pete. Um, hence the name, uh, the abbreviation ET. Well, are we going to admit that there are aliens out there? Uh, look at the amount of money on this one, Pete. By December 31st, now they're only saying it's a 4%

    32. chance, but what is that? 30 some odd million dollars have been put on poly market to say, "Yeah, by the end of the year, uh, something is going to happen." And for everybody that says it is, there's a lot of people piling in on the

    33. other side saying, "No, it's not. It's only a 4% chance.

    34. I I think whatever they want to do, John, is to whatever the truth is behind it all, and everybody's got their opinion, I'm sure, on that, but um I think you got to kick it pretty far out there. I don't know that they want to be any releases, right? That Oh, God. Yeah, absolutely. That's exactly what we're

    35. gonna we're gonna do. we're going to tell everybody that aliens are there because I'll tell you what, there's a lot of nut jobs out there who might start going crazy. So, I think I think it's it's interesting that we have the kind of volume that you were talking about though rolling into there. I mean, is it for a lot of fun? Probably more

    36. fun than anything. But, uh, you know, there are people out there who have a different opinion on on the possibilities of that than I have.

    37. Probably.

    38. >> Yeah. I don't think they're going to be doing it anytime soon. But, uh, all right, let's dive into the stock side of things then, Pete, with Old Dominion Freight Line. Um, these guys are a less than truckload or LTL

    39. carrier. Um, and uh, basically they reported revenue 1.55 billion. It was up double digits year-over-year. Earnings per share a $168 also beat. And I got to believe, Pete, that uh they're still saying that 2026 is going to be a pretty

    40. good year for them. Again, these are the less than full truckload or LTL uh loads that ODFL is carrying. What do you think of the earnings report and do you think it should have more or less of an impact?

    41. >> Yeah, it's it's I think it's a pretty strong earnings report. I like what they had early on, John, as you were talking about. I mean, this thing got up to 209 in the pre-market in the pre-market, which is a lot lighter, obviously, but here we are now sitting somewhere closer. The highs since the market opened is, I think, 203 or something

    42. like that. And then somewhere kind of finding its its way. But, you know, they have such great ability. They have strong pricing, John. There's that side of it. The freight market itself is improving. they they've raised some of the spending that they want to spend on things which I think is the investment

    43. side of this uh Odia FL. So it makes it pretty interesting by the way even though it there are some folks out there that are a little bit more negative maybe on on where it is right now and where they're going. I I'm not one of those and and one of the things that I did like seeing which is Goldman Sachs which talked about hey they raised their

    44. price targets for for Old Dominion John.

    45. So um Goldman's not stupid. They tend to do things um I think that that make a lot of sense and and it makes a lot of sense to me based upon what the earnings were with that revenue like you said up more than 10% year-over-year. Earnings were a beat as well. Surprise, surprise.

    46. Beat on both the top and the bottom. Um I like what we're seeing here right now.

    47. >> Yeah, I do too, Pete. I I think this is uh one you'd want to keep in your portfolio. Um, even though like you say the uh pre-market move was much more exaggerated than the regular session.

    48. >> All right. How about critical minerals, CRML? you know, beginning of the year, uh, everybody was talking about LAC, Lithium America, CRML, um, a whole host of companies that are involved with getting the critical minerals, hence the name, um, to the

    49. United States because China's been restricting a lot of what comes to the United States, which is mined in China.

    50. Well, Critical Minerals, uh, basically they have this big project in Greenland and, uh, it's one of the reasons that Trump wanted Greenland, uh, is for all these mineral deposits that are indeed critical to missiles, batteries, and,

    51. uh, basically storage of energy. So, CRML had a nice pop, Pete. it has continued and it is trading near the highs of the day right now up about 18 or 19%.

    52. Um I think that's a very positive move and that people are starting to take notice again of these uh critical mineral plays >> and I'll I'll even throw out a freebie for people. We're seeing some unusual option activity in this stock as well today, John. So something to keep an eye on. Every once in a while we'll throw out a little bit of something like that.

    53. um up 16% today like you were saying it's up towards the highs of the day right now. The rare earth project that you were talking about in Greenland and it's called Tan Breeze or whatever. Um it makes a lot of interesting sense to me of what we're doing and probably like you just said John about the president.

    54. President I think identified this long ago and decided hey let's try to buy this thing. Now that that kind of got shot down I guess but uh but still nonetheless very very interesting. um they are on the for forefront I think of of where they need to be and want to be and this is uh the critical metal side of it. You talked about all the

    55. different usage and when you said batteries and immediately people should and they and I think they do talk about EVs and that's what we're talking here.

    56. There's a lot to this company of what they're able to do with these critical minerals that they've got and um and also John keeps you away from having to go to China to get stuff like this.

    57. Right. So that's a biggie. That is a biggie.

    58. >> Yeah, it is. Um and I think uh we're probably going to see a second half of the year with more focus on this, Pete.

    59. >> Um especially as we rebuild some of the missiles and all the rest that we've used in the war or shipped off to Ukraine, whichever the case may be.

    60. >> Right.

    61. >> All right, let's talk about Navas semiconductor. Um, these guys uh are power semiconductors.

    62. Uh, that's what AI data centers really focus in on, Pete. Same thing with EVs and other power inensive applications.

    63. So, uh, this one NVTs, it's holding on to about a 5% gain right now. I think it was as high as 1344 or so today. beat pulls all the way back to about 1287, but like I say, that's still about a 5%

    64. gain uh in percentage terms. And this is one of those plays in the semiconductor space where perhaps the reason they're pulling back, Pete, is because of um a purchase that they're making. They're going to be doing a a definitive

    65. agreement to acquire Claros uh for about it's under a quarter of a billion dollars, but it's still a pretty big purchase, right?

    66. >> Absolutely. Yeah. I think I think 232 million, John, is is the number that I saw anyway. So, yeah. Um and you know what that they're they're talking about acquiring vertical power. Um you know, that's the V BPD, the vertical power delivery system is what they're talking about for AI and the infrastructure side

    67. of things. and so forth. This whole thing with strategic acceleration of of AI is is very very, you know, one of the things that we've been talking about for a really long time and there's people that are kind of pushing away and and and so forth. But I think the efficiency side is what what makes this a very very

    68. interesting uh company because not all of them are very efficient. Some of them are not very efficient, but they they have a great foot in into the door of the AI world. So this this does change things a little bit. I'm I'm I'm impressed with what this company is and I think sitting where it is right now with this acquisition that really could

    69. be something I think for the future that um people are probably discounting a little too much to some degree. This is a 4% move maybe right now. I think something like that. Um I think it should be more than that. So this is one I I would say uh looking at this and where they're going into the future. I'm not saying in the next month or two. I'm

    70. saying over the next six months, year or more, uh I think this stock will be a lot higher than it is today.

    71. >> Well, let's uh check one more stock that you may or may not be buying, Pete.

    72. Dicks Sporting Goods, DKS.

    73. Um so, this one's had some trouble and they are down at the lows of the day right now, Pete. Dick Sporting Goods came out with their earnings report and uh oh my I mean basically it was nearly

    74. $180 stock last night. It was just below 180 and today it's trading 129 at the lows of the session. Second quarter results they missed expectations. Um adjusted EPS per share missed expectations.

    75. Um, yeah. And then, uh, what did they do with guidance? Well, it didn't exactly give great fullear outlook either, Pete.

    76. So, that's kind of the trifecta of bad.

    77. And, uh, DIX is certainly refle reflecting that. Uh, trading at the lows of the day as we go into midsession.

    78. >> And they've got some real issues, John.

    79. I mean, one of the one of the issues being that they decided to make an acquisition with Foot Locker. Uh, that's not going well. Uh, not going well at all. false. Matter of fact, they they issued the the idea that the with the comps are down about 3 and a.5%. That's not very good. They got margin pressure.

    80. That's not very good. Like you just said, when you look and you miss on your earnings the way they did and you miss on their rev like they did and you have margin pressures, I don't see a positive anywhere. I mean, I really I don't see anything. And and a big portion of that, however, is Foot Locker. And I think

    81. that they they misjudged that one. that was a big acquisition that they decided to make. And unfortunately for Dicks, um that is not going well, at least right now. May maybe there's going to be a turn. Maybe they could figure something out that they they haven't figured out so far. But um this is not one of those where I think you got to say, you know what, I want a piece of this. I think

    82. this is one of these stocks where you could say, let's wait and they got to show me now. They got to show me after going down 24% today. They got to show me that they actually can execute and they have to start executing obviously a foot locker.

    83. >> Yeah. Well, I I would say Pete that if you look at the next logical stopping point from a technical standpoint, >> it's around 101, which was the low in uh 23 in October of 23.

    84. >> It's 28.95 right now. Um, I'm I'm not saying it, you know, that the boy, it's written in stone. They have to uh either hit resistance or hit support before you buy them, but my gosh, there's really nothing between here and basically 101

    85. or 102, Pete. So, um, you know, and obviously the, uh, the financing costs for that Foot Locker acquisition probably aren't sitting too well with the board right about now either, because the costs of all this financing,

    86. the costs of the data center financing, what you and I were talking about with Connell McShane on News Nation this weekend. Yeah.

    87. >> Um, that's that's a big deal. I mean, the US government is borrowing like crazy to pay a trillion dollars in interest every year. The uh hyperscalers are borrowing like crazy right now. And then you've got, you know, companies

    88. that did acquisitions that are perhaps uh regretting some of those uh because they were pricing them when money was 3%. Now that money is like seven or higher, um I don't think they have the same sort of rate of return on that investment, >> right?

    89. >> So, and on top of everything else, like you said, Foot Locker, um the outlook is flat to down 2% for Foot Locker. So, that's like running with a weight vest on, Pete. You're just not going to be as nimble, let's say.

    90. >> All right. Well, before we do the uh >> the sports, Pete, I'll just point out that instead of circa behind me right now, I've got the uh uh event out there at CIRCA, which is Rebel Con 2026.

    91. And Pete and I will be there, folks. Um you see a bunch of the other speakers on the screen behind me. Mark Le Prey, you see Steve Graasso, um Scott Redler, you see the owner of CIRCA, Derek Stevens,

    92. you see Todd Alt, Brett Pujo, um you see uh Niti, uh also known as Nabib Actar.

    93. He is one of the experts in quantum and uh basically uh cryptocurrency folks. We have so many great speakers lined up for this event. Um, and it's discounted until the 10th of September by $200. So,

    94. if you'd like to join us October 20th and 21st out in Las Vegas, well, you can just uh uh basically scan the QR code at the end of the broadcast today and Jared will say, "Come on over, scan the QR code and join us in Las Vegas because it's going to be a heck of a time and

    95. we're going to set you up for a great finish of 2026.

    96. All right, Pete, let's do a little bit with the uh um one of the fastest kids you'll ever see anywhere, whether it's high school or otherwise. Um they're already comparing him to Tyreek uh Tyreek Hill, the cheetah, Pete.

    97. >> So, let's take a look at this kid in high school. After seeing this footage, Tyreek Hill needs to take better immediately because there's no way this ain't his little bro. This man right here is high school receiver Canorian King. And bro might actually be the

    98. fastest high school player in human history. Look at this.

    99. >> That acceleration is for this kid. NOW TAKE ANOTHER LOOK CUZ EITHER THIS man is Tyreek Hill's brother or he is a literal CHEETAH CUZ THE R2 button ain't even that fast.

    100. >> Absolutely insane. And by the way, if you like elite sports content like this, make sure you're following. And how ironic that this field is surrounded by a track cuz even Usain Bolt would be proud of this house. Oh my goodness. Now currently this man's a senior at Midloafian High School in Texas and is committed to playing at Colorado State

    101. next season. BUT LET'S BE HONEST, soon as everyone sees this clip, >> why is he not at Colorado? By the time WE WAKE UP TOMORROW MORNING, AS LONG as this >> You may have to get a hold of your head coach at Colorado like this. You might want to look at this guy.

    102. >> I I'm thinking this guy's right, Pete.

    103. It's going to be This kid's going to be in the SEC. He is not going to be playing at Colorado or Colorado State.

    104. That's an SEC sort of speedster that you see, you know, uh, and >> when you see speed like that, as they say, you can't coach speed.

    105. >> You cannot. You cannot. And I'll tell you what, that's a tough one to catch.

    106. All right, John, are we ready for a little bit of uh >> stuff or whatever. Let's do it. Um, the Cleveland Browns. I mean, you know what what can you say about the Cleveland Browns? And and and people don't go, God, I just don't want to hear any anything more about these guys, right? I mean, as a franchise, they've just had issue after issue after issue for so

    107. many years. It's just crazy. And yet, and yet, John, the Dog Pound, they're still there, man. They love their team, of course, and they embrace it and they, you know, they love a lot of the players. Unfortunately, not all of the players. And I say unfortunately because Deshun Watson has not figured out how to

    108. do things publicly that he probably should have figured out. And I say that because he's now QB1, right? That's what they said the other day. They decided, all right, well, who's gonna be the starting quarterback and it was between him, him and Shadur. And they decided to go with with Deshaawn. And you know what, John, you got to go up there and

    109. smile. You got to go up there and and and talk to the people and let them know that you are the guy. He's done none of that. And then you look at all the the issues that this guy has and it's like, "Hey, man. Um, you just haven't figured out this game at all." Yeah, you got that monster contract, so you maybe don't even care. But I mean, 27

    110. lawsuits, all from women who described, you know, some really, really awful things that were done. Um, he can't stay healthy. He's got, you know, the backdrop of this whole thing still with with those different people, the 27 lawsuits. It's just a strange thing, John. I don't know what you think about

    111. this, but you know, the guy has played in 19 total starts and he's 30 years old. So, he's already getting to that point where you're getting older, right?

    112. I mean, once you put a three in front of it, Yeah. Uh people start looking at it a little little differently. So, I look at it, the offensive production's just not been there in the preseason. I think that uh I'm not saying that Shadura should have gotten it. What I'm saying

    113. is if Deshawn was QB1, get up there and and do the right thing. Be smart about what you say. Don't rip on the fans because the fans are maybe not always pleased. But this this was just a debacle. And you know what? It's something that just goes right along with what the Cleveland Browns,

    114. unfortunately, have had, especially the fans, have had to face for all these years. What do you think? I mean, the guy's either hurt or he's got this backdrop in in front of him and it's just, you know what, how are they going to fix this, John? And and have have they uh alienated the fans anymore by

    115. putting him in front of the microphone?

    116. I don't know. I'd say yes. My gosh, Pete. I mean, a five-year, $230 million contract for a guy that absolutely the league leaguewide they said that was a mistake

    117. >> leaguewide. Um, and then of course that was as that uh uh unfortunate lawsuit uh situation kept getting worse and worse. They signed him anyway. I mean, nobody else would touch this guy,

    118. Pete. Um, so I just don't understand.

    119. Obviously, the Cleveland ownership or the general manager saw something in uh Deshun Watson that not the rest of us saw, but he missed the most glaring thing, which was that there's a real issue here.

    120. >> Um, it's not just, you know, where there's smoke there's fire. Is uh this is not a good guy. Uh at least you know it I I'm almost speechless. Pete, I would start Shadur instead.

    121. >> Yeah, >> because um let him grow into the position and if he can't then cut him and start over.

    122. >> Uh but they can't cut the guy because again it was a guaranteed 230 mil. They take a huge hit >> uh if he can't play. Yeah. if they've got to cut him. And if they did cut him and he goes somewhere, first of all, I don't know who wants this guy.

    123. >> Yeah, nobody's touching him.

    124. >> Yeah, just bad news. Well, let's move on. That's story for Cleveland >> and it's a mistake. I mean, you know, in the NFL, I think uh themselves identified that this is an issue and uh unfortunately the team went a different direction. John, how about what's been going on? A lot of people are talking about this one and I think this is one

    125. for, you know, this is part of the whole financial and sports all kind of coming together for sure. So, the NFL and the NCAA and and we can even throw in the NBA on this this topic, John. But should pro aletes return to college? If you've decided that you're going to be one of

    126. these guys who puts themselves out there, John, you've you've decided you're going to go into the draft.

    127. That's one thing. Um, you're on an NFL roster. That's another. You signed a pro, you signed a pro contract. Are those Why are those suddenly something that can be ripped up and you go back to college and and we're seeing this happen more and more and more? And we we've

    128. seen it. There was a guy, John, um, basketball player who is R.J. Lewis Jr.

    129. is going back to play at LSU despite the fact that he had multiple NBA contracts that he had signed. I mean, you know what what in the world is happening in in sports? We already have the issues with the NIL. We have issues with the a lot of people have issues with the portal and obviously uh Davos Sweeney

    130. being one of the biggest on that talking about this is just wrong. This whole sort of version of free agency and stuff and I, you know, everybody's got an opinion on that, but I think this whole thing about, hey, you were just with an NFL team and now all of a sudden you're going to go back to college. H how does

    131. that work?

    132. I mean, I find it to be the craziest thing in the world. What do you think about this one? And what should the NFL really or or college football? I mean, a lot of coaches have stepped up and said, "This is not right. What are you guys doing?" You know, what is the NCAA doing to maybe prevent this from happening?

    133. Because if you've committed and you've made that decision that you're going pro, you're going pro and you ain't going back. But apparently you are. What do you think?

    134. >> Well, uh, you know, >> the NIL makes them pro anyway, people.

    135. >> Yeah.

    136. >> Um, but the way the rules are written, if you, um, commit to the draft, I'll just address football for now.

    137. >> If you commit to the draft and you sign a pro contract, you cannot go back to college, >> right?

    138. >> Um, now some players that still have eligibility based on the co weirdness, you know, where they get five years to play or whatever >> or six >> um six years. Yeah. Um it is the oddest

    139. thing. Um but I guess as long as they're going to talk out of both sides of their mouth, Pete, and call these guys amateurs when they're getting paid the money they're getting paid, they would say, of course, well, but they're not

    140. getting paid to play. They're getting paid for the name, image, and likeness.

    141. Okay, that's interesting.

    142. And the pro aletes are getting paid to play. They're not getting paid for name, image, and likeness only because they don't have the access to that, >> right?

    143. >> Um the NFL has all the rights to use them. For those of you who didn't know this, um if you see somebody uh in just a green jersey but not a Jets uniform, >> that's why because they can't wear a league uniform unless the league lets

    144. them and the league must get its, you know, oh yeah, it's cut, I imagine, if you wear and so you see, you know, people wearing replica Bear jerseys, replica Green Bay jerseys, but it can't have any uh inference other than the colors.

    145. >> They can say, "Well, you know, it was a blue jersey with a little orange here on the shoulder and it sort of looked like a bear jersey. It didn't have the GSH for Georgeless on it or whatever.

    146. >> Pete, you know, they can definitely talk out of both sides of their mouth, but that is the head of the pin that they dance on. Sort of like the WNBA, like I said yesterday. Um, you know, well, what is a woman?" Well, you're not getting paid to play football. You're getting name, image, likeness, NIL. Not getting

    147. paid to play football. But once you sign that pro contract, you are getting paid to play foot football.

    148. >> Yeah. And John, I'll I'll say this. I I'm at least proud of the fact that the SEC is trying to push back on this whole thing and say, "Hey, if you're a pro, you're a pro and you're not coming back." And the Big 10's trying to figure it out as well. So, at least the two biggies out there and we got to see is the ACC going to jump on board. I think

    149. they should. I don't know why they wouldn't, but u time will tell, right? I mean, on on all of them. And I think if they all kind of come together and say, "Hey, look, we've got to we've got to do this guys. We've got to do this thing where we stop these guys from going pro." And if they go pro, they're done

    150. in college. It's just end of story. Uh but we'll see how it plays out. I think it's going to play out pretty rapidly, too. I think this is something that um they've identified as, hey, we got to we got to address this issue. I mean, we can have the portal, we can have NIL, but if a guy signs a pro contract, he is

    151. a pro. He's no longer going back to college, >> right? Well, hopefully in both this case, Pete, and the WNBA, uh some sort of adult uh reasoning comes into it. Uh but again uh you uh I can't

    152. remember if it was Einstein that said Pete that you can't overestimate the amount of stupidity among the average person and uh both this situation and the WNBA are examples of that.

    153. >> Yep.

    154. >> All right. Well, remember folks, um check out that QR code. If you scan the QR code, you can get $200 off. You also get one of these snazzy hats because for everybody that joins by September 10th, you're a member of the Rebel Investor
