Why GoPro Stock Just Exploded
Watch on YouTubeSummary
John and Pete Nagarian discuss oil-driven inflation concerns, interest-rate expectations, and relatively subdued U.S. market volatility. Their stock coverage centers on GoPro’s surge following a major investor disclosure, alongside a geothermal power agreement with Google, Comstock Resources’ proposed asset transaction, and analyst upgrades for Duolingo.
- The hosts argue that crude oil is the main inflation driver and question whether higher interest rates would address it.
- The VIX briefly reached roughly 16 before retreating, which the hosts view as consistent with limited market stress.
- They cite Polymarket odds of 56% for a September rate increase of 25 basis points.
- GoPro reportedly surged as much as 80% after creator Mark Fishbach disclosed an 8.5% stake; the stock subsequently pared gains, with unusual options activity also discussed.
- A geothermal supplier’s agreement to provide Google with 396 megawatts, potentially expanding to one gigawatt, is presented as a significant growth catalyst.
- Comstock Resources rose roughly 10% following a letter of intent involving SOCAR purchasing interests in gas assets and midstream operations.
- Duolingo gained roughly 6% amid analyst upgrades, including a $210 price target, with the hosts highlighting user growth and improved guidance.

Welcome back to the Rebels Edge. Pete Nagarian and I are gonna break down how September is starting out and it started off with a but does it continue or does it move like this? We'll have the breakdown for you as well as prediction markets and of
course some sports on today's Rebels Edge.
[music] >> [music] >> Welcome back folks. Uh he is Pete Nagarian on that side of the screen. I'm John Nagarian. Welcome to the Rebels
Edge. We'll tell you more about CIRCA and that fabulous event that we've got going on the 19th through the 21st of October, but we thought we'd kick it off with a little macro, Pete, which we always like to do. And inflation worries. Yeah, but again, are you really
going to get the inflation genie back in the bottle by uh moving up interest rates when uh people interest rates uh are part of the issue, but I think inflation, Pete, is nearly 90% crude oil.
>> And I don't know how you're getting it back in the bottle by moving up interest rates on crude oil. I don't know how that helps, but somebody out there is going to try to tell us, I'm sure. And in the meantime, I'd say that uh the German DAX 30 was down nearly 4% today,
Pete. So, we're not even down better than half a percent in our markets and yet the German markets down four. Who do you think really gets hurt by this?
>> It's a good point, John, and it's just it's it's all factual. it. I mean, the reality is people whether they like to hear it or don't like to hear it, oil is the big behemoth, right? And that is something and if we have some bombing going on or anything happening over there in the straight, of course, we're going to get that big spike like we have
the last two days combined, we've been up about 5%. Now, we've eased back a little bit today from the high, but nonetheless, it's it's, you know, it's been about crude. It continues to be about crude. That is the macro picture and that is what pushes the markets down significantly. But you know what? We have rallied off of the lows at least,
John, and kind of cut it a little bit, which I think is something pretty good.
And it's also at the same time we're seeing that surprise surprise WTI's been starting to slide back down just a little bit. So, we'll see. But, I mean, that is it 100%. There's no doubt. I mean, we're looking at WTI and that is where we're going to find where is inflation. Well, I I I think
it's going to be oil and after that it's another oil. That's it. That is the inflation right now.
>> And supply and demand still works, folks. So, when you've got um all of these countries that actually have a strategic petroleum reserve and they've drawn it down, it's going to take a while to fill it back up. We all understand that. But also uh think about
a trillion dollars in interest is what the United States has to pay every year right now. You couple that with the hyperscalers and they're borrowing like crazy. Couple that with uh takeover events like AON today doing a a big
takeover. They're probably spending money. And again, there's not like unlimited money except when you print it. So, if they're uh borrowing money, that's pushing the rates up. The more demand with a stable supply, prices go up. That's exactly what's been happening.
>> All right, Pete, how about the VIX? Did the VIX really react adversely to the the half percent pop in the S&P?
>> Boy, it's absolutely amazing, John. I mean, it flew to the upside. We almost and we did get to 16. You can see. And how long did we last there? uh a couple of milliseconds maybe maybe and then pulls right back down again. So here we are once again range is 15 to 16. Yes, you can see it there. It's at 16 now.
We're looking at a little bit south of 1550. Makes a lot of sense where we are.
And you know what? Like you just were saying the S&P well it's up a major or down a major 5%. And not even that. I mean it's just it's amazing. Or 5t10en of a percent I should say. um half a percent is where we're sitting. So, are are we concerned about it? I I don't think so. Should we be? I don't think
so. I think we can see exactly what's playing out right now. People are finally reading things a lot more carefully and the VIX is where it should be right now, John. Matter of fact, maybe should be a little bit closer to breaking through 15 at some point if we stay where we are right now.
>> Well, let's do uh prediction markets, Pete. Let's move over to the Fed decision in September. Now, this one has moved. And my question to you, Pete, and to you, our valued listeners is, and
viewers, is did uh all those hikes that Mr. Walsh put into his Fed statement that Ken Griffith's computers over at Citadel read in a fraction of a sec and said, "Wait, it says hike. Boom. It says
hike. Boom. It says hike. Boom." He had it like five times in the first two paragraphs, folks. You can look it up.
Um, but he was talking about walking, that kind of hike. And he knew that the algos would read that as, "Oh my god, you know, we're going to move up rates.
Maybe they do move them up, Pete." As we can see on the prediction market, poly market, um, the odds of it moving up 25 basis points are now at 56%.
So in other words, it's past a 5050 coin flip according to Poly Market anyway.
But again, you move up interest rates.
Does that really affect crude oil? And my answer and Pete's answer is no, it does not.
>> So what are you really doing other than just causing the government to spend more money to finance our debt because we're the biggest borrower on Earth? I don't know. That's my take on it, Pete.
>> I'm I'm right there with you, John. And the idea that, you know, it's it's moved to this is is a little bit surprising, but um you know, interesting for sure. U the idea of of no change at all still is right there. And you know what, this can move very very rapidly, so we'll see.
But like you were saying, I mean, is it's is that really going to be a fix?
Uh I don't think so.
Well, let's talk about uh the uh Rebel Con 2026, Pete, because Yeah, we dropped a whole bunch of emails out there, folks. And you have until the 10th at midnight to book your ticket now for
$495 instead of $695.
I would encourage you to do that. Just to give you an idea, it's October 19th.
If you want to watch Monday Night Football in the pool with Pete and Doug Fluty, well, [laughter] and Doug may be there, Pete.
>> He might.
>> We we hope to make an announcement about Doug shortly. But um the uh event is the 19th Monday Night Football watching in the world's largest outdoor sports book.
And then the next two days, we've got a fabulous lineup of speakers that are going to talk about these things. This is the knowledge that you'd get folks recognize emerging themes whether it is quantum whether it's data centers whether it's energy um whether it's uh the semiconductors and Elon Musk
entering the semiconductor space whether it's uh you understanding more about private markets things like uh crowdfunds things like anthropic or chat GPT or back in the day SpaceX when they were still private did you know you can
get in on those either through a special purpose vehicle SPV or um directly to the cap table. We can show you how you can do that folks. And if you've watched SpaceX, even where it is now, it is more than doubled from the December 2025 last
funding round. And you could have been in on it. Well, you want to know more about that? Sign up for Rebel Con. We can show you how to do that. make better risk decisions and uh build your own opportunity framework. This is not just about options. It's about stock. It's
about uh crypto. It is about options. It is about those pre uh IPO situations and so forth. Going to be a fabulous time, folks. You will come away armed with a lot of things that you need to do well in this market. So, with that said,
please scan the QR code that Jared's putting up on your screen. And now we'll jump on over to stocks. And we'll kick it off with GoPro, Pete.
>> Why?
>> Well, because this used to be like a uh 20 billion company, Pete, believe it or not. Um, and two billion, I'm sorry, $2 billion company. But where is it now? uh it's worth 200 and some odd million after um an 80% jump this morning. Now
it's only holding on to about 45% of that. But a uh YouTube creator who uses the GoPro a lot uh named Mark Fishbach u he has disclosed that he's bought an eight and a half% stake in the company.
In other words, he's done pretty well.
And now he's saying, you know what, um, they are facing a minimum bid threshold of $1 to stay on the NASDAQ. So with his participation today, Pete, um, and announcing that, uh, GPRO um, is a stock that he owns 8 and a
half% of, it's back over a buck. Now, they need more than just him in there, but hopefully uh, GoPro, which is a company that I I like what they do. I don't know if they were ever worth two or three billion dollars, but that's where it was traded. Pete, I think this is an interesting story today.
>> I think it's a really interesting story, John. The guy is now the largest uh the top investor in in it. So, it's it's interesting. It's what eight and a half% I think of the of the shares that he got. So, yeah, and and sort somewhat of a savior in in some ways or whatever, if you want to call it that, because of the fact that, hey, this thing, you know,
there's always the possibility of a delisting. So, um, so far they're out of the weeds on that. That that that we'll see how that all plays out. I mean, it's it's been a stock that's been beaten up.
As a matter of fact, the 52- week range right now is 57 cents, John, on the low end and $35 on the higher end. But, you know, does it change the control? He doesn't want to change the control. He just wants to to see what's happening within there and the sentiment that's there. Um, and it gives him an opportunity. he's talking about for the
filmmakers and the affordability of some of the tools that these guys have. So, this is much more than than what people probably think of at go, but I think it's pretty interesting the fact that it was up 80% and then kind of pulled back again. So, we'll see how it all plays out. But I'll even add to this, there
might be some unusual option activity in there as well, which makes some sense.
So, uh, yeah, to to see people deciding that they want to have a little piece of that, um, and maybe this thing can get a little momentum to the upside. I know it's pulling back, but you know, over time, um, they at least have the time of three weeks or more to be able to do that because the options are out there in September. Very, very interesting.
And it kind of adds to that whole thing, John. Blackberry, we haven't seen that one for a while, but we did see heavy trading in there. Nokia, which we saw incredibly heavy trading a while back.
It jumped and just flew to the upside, then pulled back, and now we're starting to see a little bit more Nokia hitting again. So, some of these old names are starting to see a little bit more paper, options paper, and that I think is pretty damn interesting.
>> Well, let's hit FVO Energy, Pete. FRVO.
So, we talk about this one every day on the show, it seems, don't we, Pete?
[laughter] This is the first time I've looked it up. I think it's the first time we've spoken about it, but these guys have 396 megawws of enhanced geothermal power over in Utah, and they're going to supply that to a data center for Google.
Now, Google also has an option to take that to a gigawatt. A gigawatt, Marty, [laughter] um, by 2030. That's a very big deal.
It's the largest power purchase agreement to date for this company. And uh we all know that uh if you can possibly do things that are off the grid like this one is, um it's a big deal.
And geothermal supply of power to a data center for Google in Utah seems like it might be a pretty good driver, Pete, for this stock.
>> Yeah, no doubt about it. And and you're exactly right. And I'm not going to go too long on this one because I think that is the main story line. But when you when you talk about the technology stocks, let's be honest, they really do care and they want these things to be 247 carbonfree supply of energy. So um this is something that's pretty
interesting. I think when we're looking at this one um with Google there who's got fairly limitless money, I think this uh this could be a very very interesting agreement that they've got. And you know what, John, it's sitting on the low ends of the 52- week right now and it's up about 24% as we speak. So, it's making a
pretty good move today. Now, will they hold on to it and will that continue to the upside? I think there's a really good chance of both of that holding on and going a little bit higher. So, we'll see over time, but right now we're trading in about the 19s and that's a pretty strong move for today.
>> Yeah. And I'd say it looks like Pete the 14 level where it was on the lows um for it to go up to 25 uh seems like it could be in the cards. But I will say folks, this is out to 2028 when they're making these deliveries of this power to
Google, but who's to say they don't have some more news between now and then?
That's >> right.
>> All right, let's hit Comtock Resources, CRK.
Now they rallied on a big letter uh of intent with Azerban state oil company SOCAR and Soar would buy nonoperated stakes in Comtock Legacy and Western Hannesville gas assets uh plus a slice
of their pinnacle midstream Pete. So this is CRK is the symbol. It's another stock that quite frankly, Pete, we've not talked about an awful lot on the show, but um Comtock Resources is nonetheless a $4 billion company. It's
up 10% today. They're mainly in North Louisiana and East Texas, and it seems like a deal of this size could be pretty dang strong for them. And by the way, there's a uh a majority owner, Pete, of this one that might own uh the Dallas
Cowboys as well.
>> Yeah. I mean, not so bad for Jerry, right? Jerry's doing okay for himself, not only with his NFL buy. $180 million to about 10 maybe 11 billion dollar. So, this is a guy people can criticize him all they want, but I'll tell you what, the guy is smart and he knows when to move and when not to move. And he's u in
there as well. moving again, putting in more. So, the combination of that and Azerbaijan as well, John, and this this balance of what they're trying to do in a positive way, I think it's pretty dagon interesting. And and you know what? If Jerry's willing to jump in there for more, um I would say that it's
worth looking at. Years ago, the crap that that guy took, John, for buying the Dallas Cowboys for the price that he did, it was absolutely amazing. People can't even imagine how bad it was. You had to have been there because you got to go all the way back. I think it was around 1991 '92 somewhere in there. It doesn't really matter. But he when he
bought it, fires the head coach, everybody was mad about that and they said he was the stupidest guy around.
Well, I would say that he has shown us that he is not that stupid at all. Let's say it that way.
>> Yeah. And if you've watched Land Man, that's one of the great cameos on Land Man, folks. Um, when Jerry Jones comes in to talk to John Ham, um, the, uh, the owner of the Landman uh, uh, energy properties. Um, and he tells him all
about how he brought his family in with him and that, you know, that's the most important thing to him and he just hit another home run, Pete. Jerry just But or maybe it's a touchdown. Home run sounds more like it.
>> It sounds better. Yeah. [laughter] Uh he he is killing it.
>> All right, let's do one more. Pete, do a lingo. So this is for people like me that don't speak Spanish or another language, for instance, and want to learn how to speak that language. Um Dualingo uh has basically been falling
like a rock, Pete, since it peaked in May of last year. May of last year, it was close to $600 a share, Pete. Um, it fell all the way back down to like $95
in uh March of this year. It was like a straight downfall, Pete. But they are making about a 6% comeback today. Now, that's pretty thin gr for anybody who was buying from 300 to 400 to 500 and on up. It's pretty thin grl, but
nonetheless, they did actually get an Evercore upgrade today, right?
>> Well, they got multiple upgrades, John.
I mean, but you they had the Evercore one is probably the biggest and baddest because of how they framed it. And they got a new price target of 210. So, they are they're being realistic in my mind as opposed to just having something out there back where they were and put it at 300 or 350. Um, it's trading about 156.
The stock is up. I'm looking at it right now about 6%. John, gross margins were something that really did stand out for me from their Q2. So, they've got some positives. They seem to have some momentum going on right now. They talked about the daily active user growth of about 23% year-over-year. So, there are some positives. There's a reason I think
that this is going to have a little bit more of a move to the upside potentially. And I think that's what, you know, a lot of these different u analysts out there are looking at is the fact that they did raise the full year um that they were looking for from management as well. So that was pretty interesting. I think the stock has some legs behind it, but to get up where they
were that you were referencing, that's going to take a hell of a lot more and it's going to take some time, but they're at least moving in the right direction finally.
>> Yep, they are. They are moving in the right direction and it's still um a very interesting stock no matter how you slice it, Pete. Yeah. Um this is a seven and a half billion dollar company uh that they've built out very nicely. Uh they just need to get their legs back under them, I guess.
>> Yeah.
>> Let's talk about our sports video of the day, Pete, [laughter] because it is the guy that Pete brought to us from the uh uh what Morehead State University. Yeah.
Unbelievable.
>> Division two player that broke through and broke out for the Falcons. And I think this kid's going to play a lot this year. Let's give it a look and a listen.
>> Strand was going to be an astronaut and had a 3.87 GPA as a dual engineering [laughter] and physics major until he realized during a workout that this guy was a top 10 draft pick. He was not invited to the NFL combine or senior bowl. But the Falcons signed him as an undrafted free agent when a scout thought that a showed 40 lb right-handed quarterback
arm had everything that their current quarterbacks on the roster lacked because when Jack Strand is a Colts defender in his face, he can just calmly blah in his face. [laughter] This Jack Strand refused to transfer from Minnesota State Morehead even when big college schemes offered him half a million dollars since
he wanted to finish off his career with his boys. And you can see exactly why such high demand because he was making throws like this perfectly leading his wide receiver out of away from the Jackie [laughter] sneak because Tua has not attempt
[laughter] both can run the football. Both are athletic. I think he might have Josh on the, you know, the on the intelligence side. And that's not a slap because this guy's just off the charts. I mean, you know, if you're a guy who's even thinking about trying to become an astronaut, John, you you're probably a pretty smart son of a gun to be able to
get, you know, the kind of classes you've got to take and everything else to prepare you for that sort of a job.
But I also love the fact that he he he he he loves his teammates enough and he was willing to give up the money that he could have gotten. Um as a financial guy, I would have said, "You gotta go, kid." But but as a player, I would say, "You know what? You're a stud. You're you're the right guy to stay there." So I think the opportunity is there. He's
taking advantage of the opportunity, John. And the interesting thing is I I was looking around at some of these, you know, there's a lot of competitions in the NFL right now on on a lot of these players and do some of these guys have an opportunity. You can see Penn both those quarterbacks get injured all the time. So, we're going to see Strand at
some point during the season. We probably will. I mean, it just it's inevitable. But um I was looking at that Joe Milton John you remember him probably because he is a good example of well he's a damn good quarterback but not a great quarterback. But his his his numbers are ridiculous physically and
that's what people get stuck on. And that's why these GMs, most of them in the NFL are stupid and and arrogant and everything else because they want the guy just because of the numbers despite the fact that maybe the real numbers that were on the football field that you could see very easily on tape. Um, you would think that you would want to see
those numbers be better and and Joe Milton's a great example of that, John.
I mean, I like the guy and I like where he is now because I think he has improved as a player. Um, and as a matter of fact, just to give you a little rundown, so far this year in the preseason, and it's preseason, but he was 29 of 43, 378 yards, three touchdowns, zero interceptions. So,
those are pretty damn good numbers. So, it came down to him against Sam Howell on who do they who are they going to keep? And it seemed like Joe had the better numbers. He had this, he had that. It turns out that it's probably more of a contract. which guy's contract works better with the with the
franchise. So, they waved Joe Milton.
And my question for you is, did the kid maybe finally turn the corner where he could be in NFL? Now, we he was playing, let's be honest, they're they're playing against other guys trying to make teams, you know, in the preseason. That's just the way it is. So, he isn't going against the top-notch guys, but nonetheless, he executed. He did what he
was supposed to do. What do you think of Joe Milton? And would you would you sign a guy like Joe Milton on your on your team as a backup? He's not going to be your starter, but as your backup and maybe someday maybe he's a starter.
>> Yeah, it's a kid that was at Michigan for a while, Pete.
>> Um, you know, he was one of the number one recruits at QB. um he had just not, at least until this preseason, shown the kind of thing that Dallas or anybody else wants to see, you know, for a guy that's going to not compete against Dak because Dak Prescott is the man.
>> Yeah.
>> Um and Jerry Jones loves him, has shown him a lot of love. Um and unfortunately for Dak, it hasn't worked out in terms of getting to the playoffs. Playoffs.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. It hasn't worked out for that, but >> he is um a good player. Maybe a great player or on the verge of being a great player, but I think you nailed it. And that's why Pete should be a GM one of these days, folks. Um because it's about finance as well. Milton's been around for a while. This isn't his rookie year.
>> No.
>> Uh on the other hand, you look at Sam Howell. Um Sam is uh an excellent player. Um he looks like basically against the Saints, Pete. Um Dallas lost, but nonetheless, he came in and
rallied him in the second half. He was 12 of 18, 155 yards, two touchdowns, and he got a QB rating of 130. That's why he made the team. Yeah.
>> Now, like you said, accurately, you also do have to consider finances and how much would you have to pay? um uh Milton for a guy that has not been able to break through and he's not able to break through because Dak hasn't been hurt, >> right?
>> Um but on the other hand, do you want to have that gun to your head next year, Pete, to say, "Okay, well, we got to sign him and QBs, even if they're backups right now, are getting 25 mil." >> It's crazy. Um I I think you know they
that probably was at least part of the reason that they didn't make that move.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Well, I've been watching like you and a lot of people in the world obviously uh social media, right?
And when I'm on the s sports side of social media, I can't help but see the same player go come up all the time.
John, and it's Ruben Bane Jr. from the University of Miami. You want to talk about a horse and a guy who's just as active as could possibly be who understands the game and how you've got to be disciplined, how you've got to be fast, how you got to be strong, how you got to work a lot harder than everybody
else. And this guy after every practice this year, and this is the first round draft pick, 15th pick in the draft or whatever, somewhere in that range, I think. I'll tell you what makes the kid special, John. He's out there after practice still working on his rushes from the outside. doing all the extra things that a guy should be doing and I
think he's seen some of the predecessors that have been there, but I'm not going to say he was overlooked because he was in the first round and yes, he was the 15th pick. But I'll tell you what, John, um, he is going, I think, to show up everybody, and again, something the general managers need to pull their head out of their butt about, which is this.
You know what his biggest, you know, the gripe was on this kid going into the NFL? That his arms were short. I got to tell you something. I understand what they're saying, but that's that's an overread. You don't need to. The guy's got a 30 and a half inch reach. Okay, that is a problem. You're going up against a 6'8 inch offensive tackle who
can sit you like this. But you know what? They're not going to sit like this. If you're stronger than them, faster than them, doing spin moves and everything else that this kid does, he will be the most fun kid to watch, I think, this year. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were really, really smart to grab him. He's a freak show. He's
explosive. He's dedicated. And the fact that he's working out after every single practice, John, just tells me this guy's not waiting, you know, the first three years of my contract and everything. No, this guy's coming out running and he's going to be balling. I'm really, really impressed with this guy. I think he might have been the best defensive
player in the draft based on what he does. It's just pretty sharp what he does.
Well, he was the uh defensive player of the year, Pete. Um, and like you say, ideally, could you uh would you like to see him have longer a bigger wingspan?
>> Sure.
>> I ideally >> sure.
>> But again, uh last I checked, he's not a runway model. It's not a question of his measurements as much as what he did on the field. and he was the number one defensive player in the ACC.
>> They got some monsters in [laughter] the ACC. You know, the SEC, well, Big 10, SEC, ACC, um, they have some monsters.
If you're one of those leading edge rushers in any of those leagues, and you put up the kind of numbers this guy put up, I don't care what your wingspan is.
Um, uh, but could it have hurt him that he didn't at the combine, didn't run the 40, >> didn't do the shuttle, didn't do, uh, the I think it was the high jump or whatever.
>> It may have, but 15th, like you say, is no slouch.
>> No slouch.
>> I mean, you know, you're in the half the upper half of uh the best of the best of the best.
>> So, I think Tampa's going to be real happy with him. I think he's going to be real happy he gets to stay in Florida.
Yeah.
>> And uh Yeah. This is going to be a player you're going to want to watch him, folks, because he is he uh like Aaron Donald. No. Nope. He's not that huge strong guy that's gonna tackle two people at the same time like Aaron Donald did, dude. But is he the guy that
can beat you on the outside and then cut back in on the inside the next time when you got you stepping to the outside to try to, you know, stop him? Yeah, he is that guy. And now he's probably got a chip on his shoulder, too, Pete. So, uh, keep an eye on this guy. I think he's a player.
>> If you're an offensive tackle, if you're an offensive tackle, you he's one of the guys already in the NFL, I'll say it, who they don't want to see him. They do not want to have to go up against a guy because he is an absolute force and strong as an ox. I mean, he's he's a special player. So, that's going to be a lot of fun to watch him this year, I think, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
They upgraded by getting him in the first round.
>> Yep, they did. And deservedly so. I'm surprised even that he went 15th, Pete.
I would have picked higher than that, but I think Tampa did the right thing trading up to get him.
>> Yeah.
>> Well, uh, thanks for joining us, folks.
again behind me circa 2026. It is the 19th through the 21st. Fabulous information going to be shared there about all manner of investing pre-market uh before things come to the public
markets through IPOs or direct listings.
