    Watch on YouTube

    Summary

The hosts discuss subdued trading ahead of the September Fed decision, a narrow VIX range, and stock moves tied to energy costs and AI infrastructure spending. They examine Diamondback Energy, J.B. Hunt, optical-networking demand, and Cipher’s data-center potential, emphasizing substantial volatility in AI-linked names.

    • The hosts expect a 25-basis-point Fed rate increase and describe investors as waiting for the announcement.
    • The VIX trades roughly between 16.5 and 17.1, while unusual options activity is lighter than normal.
    • Diamondback Energy falls about 10% as crude oil retreats; the hosts highlight its sensitivity to oil prices.
    • J.B. Hunt drops about 13% amid warnings that fuel and driver-related costs will pressure quarterly profitability.
    • Optical-networking shares rebound on AI data-center demand, with short interest potentially amplifying volatility.
    • The hosts view Cipher’s data-center potential favorably but warn investors to expect a very choppy ride.
    • Football-related prediction-market volume is highlighted as evidence of growing engagement in sports betting.

    1. Welcome to another Rebels Edge, where we finally get the answer to the September Fed meeting. Are we going to see rates higher? And that $3 million bet that was placed just two days ago looks like it probably is going to turn into a $300,000 profit. At least that's the way

    2. I see it. We'll see the way Pete sees it. And the VIX, sports, and stocks on today's Rebels Edge.

    3. >> [music] [music] >> All right. All right. All right.

    4. [laughter] >> All right. All right. All right. That's one happy camper, Pete.

    5. >> Well, he's he's he's such a fan in a good way, right? I mean, here's a guy who's probably as big as it is in Hollywood today and you know, Matthew McConna and yet he's the biggest fan of Texas football and other things and he shows up and he does it and he gets everybody all riled up and you know what, when people are up there in the

    6. stadium and they got 100,000 people there and they can still see him standing down there on the field, John, I mean, it's got to be great.

    7. >> Yeah, I agree. And uh and he wears his heart on his sleeve. um and uh lives and dies with uh Texas uh football.

    8. >> It's It's cool to see. Uh we need more of those in Minnesota, Pete.

    9. >> Yeah, we do.

    10. >> Right now, we've just got Pete up there running up and down the sidelines and we didn't have to do too much running last week. [laughter] No, >> that was that was a tough game.

    11. Mississippi State took it to us, unfortunately.

    12. >> Well, that's a tough team. I mean, nobody has an easy game with those guys.

    13. They don't often uh get to the very top, but they are pretty damn good, Pete.

    14. >> Yeah, they are good quarterback this year, too.

    15. >> I agree. Well, let's dive in, Rebels, shall we? Uh let's take a look at macro.

    16. And I'm going to say European markets little higher today. Asian markets kind of mixed. Uh but basically caution and uh lack of uh enthusiastic trading I'll say Pete because there's not that much enthusiasm right now in the markets. And I don't mean bulls or bears. I just mean

    17. everybody's just kind of waiting right now. And when they get what we're going to get basically at 2 pm, which is a an increase of 25 basis points, >> I think uh then we'll start trading again. Yeah, they're in a full pause, John. As a matter of fact, you know, normally early on, first hour of the

    18. trading session, we'll have 15 or 20 unusual option activities hitting on our systems. You know how many we had today going into the first hour?

    19. >> How many? [laughter] >> Four. So, yes, it's like yes, people are kind of waiting back. Hands are in their pockets. They just want to see exactly what happens. I think that we have enough uh in our heads to be able to see that the 90 plus percent are saying,

    20. "Hey, it's a quarter point and it's g it's going to be there." Um, but you know what? We still got to wait for the actual numbers and and they will deliver. And I you know, I think we all agree for the most part that it is going to be a quarter point and if it's not, that could change things a lot and get a little bit more dicey maybe within the

    21. markets. We'll see.

    22. >> Yeah. And we're gonna see, Pete, whether or not the bond vigilantes start to pull back a little bit. Yeah.

    23. >> Um, for those of you who don't really follow it, the way Pete and I follow it, >> when you've got these bond vigilantes, they're saying that the rate out there offered by the Fed funds, for instance, isn't high enough.

    24. >> So, they demand more. And thus, they don't push money across the table and say, "Yeah, we'll just take whatever you're given." They want a higher and higher yield and uh they've been right about wanting that higher yield and finally now apparently the Fed's going to acquies today, Pete. Maybe some of

    25. those bond vigilantes will calm down a little bit after that. But again, that remains to be seen. How about the VIX?

    26. That doesn't remain to be seen. It's seen most >> right now [laughter] throughout the day.

    27. >> Well, John, I think it's pretty interesting. It is very, very tight.

    28. It's exactly reading what the market is saying basically, which is, hey, look, we're in a pause to wait. Not a pause necessarily for what the Fed's going to do, but a pause to wait until that 2:00 uh point in time where they deliver. And by the way, hear a little bit more from Wish and and why they're doing what they're doing and how they did it and

    29. how did they make the decisions. But until then, John, we're at we're in a very very tight call it 16 and a half up to about maybe call it 1710, something like that. down a couple of a percent in terms of the VIX itself. Um I'm actually even surprised to be honest with you.

    30. It's not even a little bit lower than it is right now, but it is very near the lows of the day. Call it 16 and 3/4. But um until we get that that delivery that we're all waiting for, I think that uh the VIX is probably going to meander around exactly where it is. And it's not in a very If you just look over the last

    31. couple, you know, hour and a half or so, shoot, we're even tighter than that.

    32. call it 16 and 3/4 to 17, you know, but it's going to be interesting. Um, it is something where we do do we see 18 another little spike up to 18 again? I don't know that we see that, but I certainly think that there could be some surprises still at the end of the day

    33. when we start to hear from the Fed.

    34. Well, uh, I thought you'd find this one interesting, Pete, because, uh, you and I talk all the time about how it's football, football, football. In terms of the top 100 shows watched on television, football is like 94 of the top hundred shows or sometimes as high

    35. as 96.

    36. >> In other words, between college and pro football. Yeah. They get the ratings over everything else. Uh well, Kelshi did pretty well with that. They nearly did a billion dollars in week one alone.

    37. Just a billion, Pete. They were just shy of it. $983 million. And uh also Poly Market uh did an explosive amount as well, even though they don't get nearly the same traction that Kelshi gets. Uh they did college and pro and they

    38. basically did week overw week an explosion versus last year. Pete, I mean these prediction markets, we track them over at Rebel Predictions and uh it's pretty incredible.

    39. >> It is. It's absolutely amazing. And like you were just saying, I mean, when you look at some of the the sheer volume of um the folks going in there, $983 million. I mean, the there there's some real action going on in that world for sure. and the sports world makes a lot of sense. And and of course, I mean, we

    40. know how dominant and you just were talking about how dominant the NFL is and college football. You add those two together. This is just a great example of exactly that. It's a it's what we're talking about. People are engaged and they're engaged in their viewing as well as their betting.

    41. >> Well, let's talk about a uh an energy play, Pete, for natural gas. Oops. You know what? I gotta go back and do the uh the uh pitch for what's behind me here.

    42. >> Oh, >> the uh circa. So, uh Pete and I are going to be out at Circa. It's not just Pete and John. Pete and John are going to be out there. Mark Le Prey is going to be out there. Derek Stevens is going to be out there. Um we've got an incredible lineup folks that are going to be giving you guys, you know, for

    43. instance, high performance life. How do you become that high performer? Well, you're going to hear that from Grant Cardone. You're going to hear that from Doug Fluty, from Lonnie Paxton. And Lonnie just happens to have three Super Bowl rings. Doug just happens to be a Heisman Award winner. And uh in the

    44. Canadian Football Hall of Fame, as well as the College Football Hall of Fame, we've got Todd Alt um who has one of the larger data centers in all of the West.

    45. Uh along with Only Bulls. Uh, so we've got just a a stacked lineup, folks. I would encourage you guys to scan that QR code, check out the lineup, and uh hopefully you'll choose to join us. It is October 19th through 21st. It is

    46. going to be a fabulous time, and uh Pete and I are really looking forward to it.

    47. It's a great hotel and casino. Uh Derek Stevens will be on stage and hopefully he'll bring his pal Dana White with him.

    48. And uh we're really looking forward to it. It's going to be great. Scan the QR code, you can see all about it. And it's priced right. It's $495, folks. The VIP tickets are sold out. Um but you can still get a general admission ticket, so by all means, scan

    49. the QR code and join us out there. All right. Now, Pete, I can talk about Fang, the uh uh big uh play in uh energy. And why is that? Well, because they're really involved in the perian. And what's in the perian? Yeah, there is

    50. some just regular jackup rigs and things like that, but there's an awful lot of fracking and things like that, Pete. A lot of land man Tommy Norris stuff.

    51. Well, they were down 6%, then they were down 8%. Then they were down 10%, which is where they are right now.

    52. Now, maybe they bounce here. Uh but prior to this they were uh last night for instance uh the stock closed at 211.

    53. That was this close to a new 52- week high and then crude oil pulls back and fang diamond back pulls back. Pete.

    54. >> Yeah. Well, it's an amazing thing, John.

    55. I mean, what the biggest takeaway I have for people on Diamondback Energy is that it moves in tandem with oil prices. And so, you know, if you overlay them and so forth, you can see exactly what I'm talking about. But, you know, that they're an oil and gas producer. That's what they do. They do a lot of things.

    56. And, uh, they are moving with WTI.

    57. They're moving with the price of oil.

    58. And obviously, um, that makes it pretty interesting because each and every day we get more and more and more, right?

    59. And, you know, like today, great example, yesterday it was nothing but up up. Now, today, now it's coming down about 4% almost. So yeah, I I think that that makes Diamondback a very interesting stock for a lot of people to take a look at and be um if they want to be involved in the whole energy side of things, which you know, John and I talk

    60. about this all the time. That is inflation. And I'm saying that because of what's going on today with the Fed.

    61. But, you know, when you're trying to get inflation to come down a little bit, we know exactly where it starts from, and it starts from crude oil. So, um, I find it I find it really pretty cool that you can use that as another way to try to trade the price of oil and, uh, you know, they've got options, got all of it. And this this I think would be

    62. something that people should have just sitting on their on their computer if nothing else, just keeping an eye on what Diamondback is up to.

    63. >> Well, uh, that's a great lead, Pete, into JB Hunt, which is JBHT.

    64. um because shares just were getting trash down 13%. The CEO over there cited exactly what Pete said and that is higher fuel and driver related costs are going to weigh on thirdarter profitability. And so whether it's

    65. because of the trucks themselves that need diesel, of course, or whether it's the uh uh uh stuff that gets flown from the the Far East over to America to then get put on trucks or if it comes in on a ship to then get put on a truck. I mean,

    66. all of this stuff, crude oil is at the heart of all of it. And he mentioned this at a Morgan Stanley conference, Pete, and people were already a little bit nervous about what he might say. His name's Brad Delo, but uh I don't think he was pulling any punches or uh trying

    67. to be uh you know uh chicken little. I think he was just basically telling them the truth that this finds its way to work its way through the economy just like water. It finds uh a way to move.

    68. Yeah. Uh, absolutely, John. I mean, you know, the it is a heavy weight and that heavy weight is oil and obviously diesel and we, you know, we're looking at some of the numbers that diesel gas is doing now and it's just uh extraordinary to say the very least. But you know what?

    69. What is this going to affect? It's going to affect their next quarter's profitability, right? And he talked about that as well. He talked about some of the earnings could could be a decline of anywhere between five and 10%. So, um, this is something that's very real and it's not just fuel. There is a little bit of a side to it as well. They have, you know, drivers have a lack of

    70. the number of drivers that they'd like to be able to have. They just people aren't doing that as much as they once were. So, that's another factor, but fuel is the main one. And, uh, you know, he he talked about strong interotal demand that's there, but the the shortage of drivers makes it very very difficult. So when you see all that, I I don't think it's something you got to

    71. run away from it, but I think that you want to keep a little bit of an eye on JB Hunt and and see where it is and see if it gets punished enough. Uh and when I say enough, if it gets punished more, I shouldn't have said enough. It it really could be something very interesting if you have the the the thought that maybe we start to see some

    72. of these energy costs going down. But as of right now, yeah, today it's down a little bit, but yesterday it was up quite a bit. So, uh, we, when I say down, I mean somewhere in the low 90s or maybe even upper 80s. Um, then that could change things at least a little bit for JB Hunt.

    73. >> Yeah, let's, uh, cross our fingers, Pete.

    74. >> Yeah.

    75. >> Um, all right, let's hit Lum because this is a crazy stock, Pete. Yeah, it's optical networking and, um, you want to talk about volatile. Uh, the stock on the lows, Pete, was 144 bucks. Not today. Um, yesterday it closed at like

    76. 838.

    77. Um, but it was 144. That's the 52- week low. And it's been over a thousand on the 52- week high. And you know exactly why, folks, before I even say it. AI data centers. I mean, that is why if

    78. you've got uh data that needs to be uh mined fast, well, you need optical networking. And that's exactly what these guys do. Um, and the stock has just been on fire today. It makes a little recovery because they were being

    79. sold yesterday. Many stocks in this particular space, but against a uh a tape today where there's a little bit of a recovery. It's up almost 9% so far, Pete.

    80. >> Yeah, it's really a pretty interesting one, John, with the AI cap, you know, capex that you're talking about. You're talking about the uh optical and the photonic uh products and all those things. These guys, you know, was it should they have gotten hit as hard as they did yesterday? Maybe. But it seemed like maybe it was an oversell quite

    81. honestly because as you mentioned it was all the way down there what 835 838 somewhere in that sort of a range on those lows. Um today it hit up to 900.

    82. So by the way some shorts in here. Yep.

    83. There's there's plenty of shorts. eight to nine% of this has got shorts there.

    84. So to see this thing make this kind of a move back up to the upside after a little bit of a reprieve of things that are going on around them. Um I'm not surprised at all and this thing could make some monstrous moves both up and down if we keep seeing the prices of energy going up and down the way they

    85. are as well as well as a lot of other things. But yeah, this is a this is not necessarily a Fed stock. This is a this is a a data center stock and it's it's something I think that it's it's an interesting trade, but you you better hope you're on the right side of it because this thing can move pretty

    86. quick.

    87. >> Okay. Well, so can Cipher Pete CFR and uh I remember wasn't that long ago these guys were a Bitcoin miner. Um and you know how that works folks. you you do the mining, that's the proof of work, and then you get rewarded with a Bitcoin

    88. or some part of a Bitcoin um for doing the work of proving out uh that on the immutable data uh uh blockchain rather that all of these uh bitcoins are proved out at. Well, a lot of these companies, uh, Pete and I have been involved with

    89. several, have, uh, kind of gone away from being miners and are instead focusing on, you know, they are high performance computer centers. They say we could be a data center. And if you look at the multiple for the data centers versus the multiple for the uh,

    90. mining, especially since Bitcoin until it the recent recovery, it wasn't exactly uh, they weren't waving the flag. Let me put it that way, Pete. So, a lot of people were kind of uh keeping their hands in their pockets or stepping away, at least for the short term, from these as they wait for perhaps the

    91. Clarity Act to pass. Um, Cipher, on the other hand, today is up some 15 or 16%.

    92. So, a very nice upside move uh despite the fact that it's not being led by Bitcoin. You you mentioned Pete accurately that fang or Diamondback moves with uh crude oil. A lot of these miners move with the product that they

    93. mine whether it's Litecoin or whether it's Bitcoin or whatever it might be.

    94. But in this case, these guys are much more of a high performance computer center data center um than they are a minor. And yet here it is 15% rally.

    95. >> Yeah, it's interesting, John. This is a choppy son of a gun. I mean, so anybody who's looking at this particular name and maybe it's because of the fact of where where they are in this whole thing going away from being u you know on the mining side and and absolutely embracing everything in the high performance computing. I mean that's that's a really big deal for them and it's I I think

    96. it's going to be very very lucrative into the future. But that doesn't mean it comes without risk because it comes with some risk. And and you know when we're looking at this thing, it popped up. It was up 7% then 10% then 12%. I mean this thing has been really moving again today after having a pretty sluggish day yesterday. So um are they

    97. making the right moves? I think that they are John. I think that a lot of these companies that are coming and g getting away from being the miners and then moving over as you say, I mean, it's it's a fairly simple thing for them to be able to flip the switch and all of a sudden they're involved in the data center. So, I I like what we're seeing

    98. here. I like it a fair amount, but I just wanted people to understand you will be in a very very choppy, very bumpy ride if you're going to be in Cipher. And just know that going in.

    99. >> Well, I I couldn't agree more, Pete.

    100. There is uh Cipher is one of those stocks that if uh if it had a beta, it would probably be at three or four, Pete. In other words, it's going to move three or four times what the uh S&P moves if you baited it to the S&P.

    101. >> All right. Uh let's uh take a look at a little highlight here, Pete. Um because and this is a a feel-good story, too.

    102. Yes. Because here's a kid that uh was, you know, just at the pinnacle. They they win the national title at Indiana and every kid on that team, you know, you look at him and you're thinking, boy, all these guys are going to get drafted. An awful lot of them did. This

    103. poor guy didn't. And yet he rises from the ashes like a phoenix.

    104. So, let's take a look and a listen.

    105. After what happened last night, EVERYONE SHOULD GO GET themselves a Khalil Benson jersey immediately cuz this has got to be the best feelgood story we've seen all year. Cuz at the end of last season, Benson was on top of the world, the starting right TACKLE FOR THE NATIONAL champion Indiana Hooser. But

    106. unfortunately after that, bro got humbled real quick, going undrafted in this year's draft. So what did he do?

    107. You got to wonder how they all camp as a try out WITH 75 OTHER MEN JUST HOPING he'd at least get a chance. And guess what? Not only did they give bro a contract, but then he made the 53man roster and was so impressive the Chiefs started him at left TACKLE IN LAST NIGHT'S OPENER. A position this man hasn't played since high school. But

    108. wait, I'm >> Central Casting can't make this up.

    109. >> Even crazier. And by the way, if you like elite NFL content like this, make sure to follow. Not only did last night bro started a position he's basically never played, he had to do so in his very first game while also protecting Mahomes his blind side when he was coming off a torn AC.

    110. >> I was GOING TO SAY HE'S A BIT OF a blind side, right?

    111. >> What this man did, bro only allowed the fewest pressures among all rookie tackles, including three players that were taken in the first round. And on top of that, this man did this against the vaunted BRONCOS DEFENSIVE LINE. TALK ABOUT SPEED running your way from nowhere to stardom. This man just showed every single kid out there. YOU DON'T

    112. NECESSARILY GOT TO BE PATIENT. You just got to want it. We have never before seen someone hit the pinnacle, then completely fall from grace and then RISE ALL THE WAY BACK UP TO STARDOM FASTER THAN this after what?

    113. >> That's amazing. It's amazing story.

    114. >> I I can't tell you why, Pete. I mean, I really can't. I mean, you look at his numbers. Not only does he play for, you know, the national championship and they win it, but he played all season for them. He came from Colorado from, you know, Dion

    115. uh out with the Buffaloos and he transfers to, uh, Indiana, 66 plus, 320 pounds. He's got a six foot n inch wingspan. So, it's not like, "Oh, but he had really short arms." Or, "Oh, but his legs are to this or to that." You know,

    116. it's like you always say about uh the combine. It's interesting, but it's not necessar I mean, isn't on the field performance more important than how fast you can run a 40 or the 10 or the shuttle run or the uh uh vertical leap or the bench press or any of these

    117. things. I mean, you're putting this guy in front of Mahomes uh to guard his blind side. That that's like the premier position on the offensive line.

    118. >> Absolutely. I mean, come on. It's pretty amazing because well, let's not forget too uh Patrick Mahomes is coming off an ACL and he's got his blind side and his blind side is this guy. I mean, the blind side for the people who don't know, if it's a right-handed quarterback, it's your left tackle.

    119. Obviously, it flips around if you're a left-handed quarterback, but this guy is the blind side. And it's uh very similar to the whole the movie. This is probably better than the movie The Blind Side, actually. I mean, it's it's really pretty amazing, John. And uh you know, kudos to this this young man for not not

    120. giving up because he probably could have he probably could have said, "Well, I I guess this is just isn't for me." Well, John, I think one of the great games of this weekend coming up because the NFL, we kicked it off. We got through a lot of stuff, but you still don't know totally everything about your team because, you know, some of the teams didn't even play some of the starters

    121. during the preseason. So, now you're getting a little bit of real time. And I'll tell you what, I'm looking forward to this week. I think one of the best games out there's got to be the Vikings going up against the Bears. I mean, Caleb Williams for the Bears is starting out just like he was last year, John.

    122. He's looking fantastic. He's throwing the ball around. They put up 59 points.

    123. He was 21 of 29 throwing the football around and slinging it around. And the Bears running game is what's really impressive. The Bears put up that almost 40 times almost 300 yards. 291 yards is what they put up. They dominated the clock. That offense looked really great.

    124. Defense, I don't know how great they look. They don't look like the the Bears of old, that's for sure. But I'll tell you what, they could score some points.

    125. And the Vikings kind of find themselves in a similar spot with their team. The Packers put up 420 yards on the Vikings.

    126. They put up 350 throwing the ball.

    127. >> So, you can see that that they probably have some weakness somewhere in the secondary there or maybe even just the pass rush, right? So, I think that one's going to be pretty interesting. I think the fact that the Vikes and the Bears, it's always been a great uh matchup every single for for how many years, I don't even know, but it's been forever.

    128. But what do you think about that one, John? I think I think it could be a really great game. Interesting part is it's both teams there, it's their offense that's really more impressive than their defenses. The defenses have given up a lot of yards and a lot of points.

    129. >> Yeah, they sure have, Pete. And uh the uh the Vikings, uh your guy, that's your guy Flores, Pete, I think. Um he uh uh basically threw in the towel with the crap defense they played in the first half or at least the first through the

    130. third quarter.

    131. >> And he did a Vikings variation of the 46 defense. So that's what I played under Buddy Ryan. And the 46 defense is all about pressure on the quarterback. Um because everybody sits there thinking to themselves, 46, 46, uh four and six is

    132. 10. That's one shy of the 11 people you've got on the field. Yeah. Well, that's why Buddy was able to run that, Pete, because he had Todd Bell, he had Leslie Frasier, he had Richardson, he had Single Terry, and uh, you know, a

    133. bunch of players that were perfect, Otis Wilson, and so forth for that kind of attacking style defense. Dave Derson. I mean, you look at uh what the Vikings did, and I'd encourage any of you to uh you know, just Google it uh and you can probably get some clips. You'll see two

    134. muggers, as they call them, line up on the center in the A gaps. And the A gap is, of course, you've got the uh that gap right between the center and the guard. And you've got two guys there.

    135. That's center and those guards are nervous as a longtailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, Pete, as as Lou Holtz might say. Um because uh they're nervous because they don't know are they coming or not. And I think in order to beat that, especially since Cashman,

    136. your linebacker, played so well in that role, Pete, he was just busting right up the middle and just tearing guys up.

    137. >> Um If uh if the Bears want to uh have a shot at beating that style defense, I think they're going to have to put Caleb under center >> and uh not do the uh shotgun empty shotgun, you know, where it's just the quarterback back there and everybody

    138. else is on the line.

    139. >> Um they will come like a freaking jailbreak if you do that. And that's what happened to poor old Jordan Love uh for the Packers. I don't really feel too bad for him, but I'll say poor Jordan Love anyway. [laughter] But um man, that was a a jailbreak. So

    140. that's that is going to be an exciting game, Pete. I agree. And I bet Kelie gets a lot of play on that one.

    141. >> Yeah, I think you're right on that. Last thing I got for you is in in college football, John, I was just kind of kicking this around. So, we've gotten through a game or two, you know, so far.

    142. Who looks the best already? And, you know, it's difficult to say who does because a lot of the teams are playing, you know, the Little Sisters of the Poor and everything else. And, you know, it's really hard to figure out. And a great example of that is the one that I'm going to select. Who's the who do I think is the best team right now in

    143. college football? I think it's Miami.

    144. Um, I look at what their defense can do and what those players look like and they look the real deal and they playing pretty good. Now, they've played nobody so far, but on the offensive side, they got a brand new quarterback. You might get nervous. Hey, it's a new guy. We're going to have to get him in trained in.

    145. Darien Mensah. Well, Johnny's thrown for 650 yards, eight touchdowns, and zero interceptions so far. So, I'd say he's pretty good. By the way, the offensive line doesn't look either very bad either because he's had zero sacks. So, that kid at at at quarterback and then you've got two running backs. This kid Mallerie

    146. who's averaging 13 a carry and Fletcher's averaging seven a carry. So you've got a running game and a passing game and you've got Malachi Tony who's arguably I know Ohio State has a great couple of receivers. They always do.

    147. Every receiver that goes there is pretty damn good. Their worst receiver could probably start on most teams. But Malachi Tony down in Miami, John, 330 yards, four touchdowns. I would say that that guy's starting off pretty nice for a wide receiver. He had a great year last year and it looks like he's picking up in the same spot. They've got a new

    148. quarterback. He looks like he's very comfortable where he is. So, I'm going to say Miami. What do you think?

    149. Well, um, Pete, I think, uh, like you said, you can't really judge like last year's championship team, Indiana, because they haven't played anybody.

    150. They played North Texas, but you already said, you know, Oklahoma State stole all the North Texas players. So, that was 52-6.

    151. They beat them. Um, and then they beat Howard. Why is Indiana playing Howard, Pete? um 55 zip.

    152. >> I mean, again, the they should have called the dogs off like at least they had the good sense to do in the Miami, Florida&M game, >> but I I I think that uh Notre Dame might

    153. have one of the most dominant teams from what I saw in week uh one against Rice, Pete, because they just cleaned them out. Um, and I'm not saying that's a great Rice team, but 52 zip and I don't think Rice even got a first down. I

    154. mean, it was pathetic. Um, and that's how good their defense is. And uh but the game I most want to watch this weekend uh in the college is Lane Kein going back down to Oxford because him going back to Mississippi, the team that

    155. thought he was there for life and all of a sudden life turned out to be a little shorter at Mississippi than Mississippi wanted because LSU threw a stupid amount of money at him. But he goes back there.

    156. And LSU, they beat Clemson 51-10.

    157. >> We both know Clemson's not a pushover.

    158. No.

    159. >> So you beat them like that, you got some horses on the field. And yes, they do.

    160. But this is going to be a a revenge game. I still think LSU wins, Pete. Um, and might even win by a lot. But, uh, that's just because of how great those players are that he's recruited and taken from the portal and so forth. Um, and the fact that he is still a pretty

    161. good coach.

    162. >> Yeah. Oh, he's he's a really good coach, I think. And you know what? I I'm I I like him. So, maybe I'm a little bit biased, but and I understand why people don't like him because he can be arrogant. He can be cocky. He can be all the things that people want to say about him. Probably worse than I just said.

    163. But that I'll tell you what, John, they were talking about it already on the radio. I heard guys talking on ESPN saying, "Hey, uh, they're going to have to have bodyguards around them. They're going to have to do this. They're going to have to do that because of, you know, those people are not happy about this." And it's too bad they've gone as far as they have. But there's a lot of hatred

    164. out there for for Lane for leaving the team. And um, I guess you could say, you know what, that's uh that's okay. It's not okay. They they got to stay within, you know, some sanity and not go crazy with the guy. But I can understand they're mad he left the team. He's at

    165. LSU and why is LSU better? Well, I don't know. He just felt like it was better.

    166. He wanted to go to a different spot. I I give It's like when Lou Holtz left left Minnesota for Notre Dame. Had he stepped stayed at Minnesota, we might have gone to a Rose Bowl, but you know what? He wanted to make the move. So, um I'm a little bit more open-minded about how that whole thing works.

    167. Well, I I'll even tie it into this, Pete. You might not agree, but Cindy Sydney Sweeney, she put she she's up on a billboard in Times Square um posing mainly naked, but you don't see naked parts other than what you might see in

    168. just a a dress.

    169. >> Uh but they make it very controversial.

    170. Um some people love it, some people hate it. Um, I would think that you could do that same sort of thing with Lane Keifin. You could have a bunch of parody billboards for Lane Keifin down there that just embarrassed the heck out of him, maybe. Um, a lot better than threatening bodily harm.

    171. >> Yeah.

    172. >> Um, because And I'm not I I don't know that the Mississippi fans have threatened bodily harm, Pete. You know, maybe some weirdo here or there, but that's all it takes is one. Um, and I hope they do provide good security. And I'm sure he is going to be a little bit

    173. nervous, Pete. Um, going in there, uh, because, uh, Oxford, Mississippi is not going to be happy to see him again.

    174. [laughter] >> There might be a few beers flying. There might be a few other items thrown at him. And, uh, I think that team is going to have to strap it on, Pete. That's going to be a tough tough game, but a good one. and one that I'm looking forward to and I'll put some money on Cali on that one. [laughter]

    175. >> That sounds great.

    176. >> Well, we will be back tomorrow, Pete, at uh 100 p.m. Eastern time. So, until then, folks, make sure you check out the uh circa event that we're doing, Rebel Con 2026. And Pete and I will be back tomorrow at 1 PM Eastern time.

    177. Heat. Hey. Hey. Hey.
